Hudson Valley has been ranked in the top two counties in the country for tourism spending, according to a 2015 study by Destination New York.
The number of visitors visiting the region, including those who arrive with families or tourists, has increased significantly in recent years.
Last year alone, 8,095 businessjarvees.com travelers visited Hudson Valley, compared wijarvees.comth 5,984 visitors in 2014. In June of last year, 3,541 business travelers visited Hudson Valley, compared with 4,094 in 2013.
But not everyone is happy with the region’s treatment of tourism.
The Tourism Commission of New York has issued its annual report on the economic condition of the Hudson Valley and Hudson County over the past several years. It found that, as of May, 2017, the region still lags behind in attracting top dollar visitors, and that Hudson Valley continues to be one of the area’s worst destinations for those with low incomes.

For example, the Hudson Valley Chamber of Commerce said that over the past year, the county has refused numerous requests from legislators to add more parkland, which they say would have added additional jobs for residents.
The Chamber, based in Upper Marlborough, also said that despite recent progress in implementing a bill legalizing marijuana, state officials failed to acknowledge the positive impact the recreational use of marijuana would have.
